Janet Dooley Edwards
Founder and Master Trainer at Stateline Canine since 2011, Janet has been a certified Master Trainer since 2001 with Tarheel Canine Training, one of the largest and most respected training academies in the country. She specialized in severe behavior modification, working with “last chance” dogs facing aggression or shyness, and led the pet obedience program to its highest level. Janet has trained hundreds of SAR and police K9 teams nationwide, instructing handlers in detection, patrol, and man trailing.
Janet’s competitive Belgian Malinois, Zuko, is a multi-level PSA National Champion and the only dog to hold titles at every level in the sport’s history. Together, they also provide private narcotics detection services and have been featured on major media outlets including Good Morning America and Fox News.
Her decades of experience and dedication make Janet a trusted leader in dog training and behavior.
Shawn Edwards
Shawn brings over 25 years of K9 handling experience, beginning as a Military Working Dog handler in the Air Force and continuing with Baltimore City Police Department, where he served as K9 Handler, Detective Sergeant, Head Trainer, and Unit Commander. A respected figure in the Protection Sports Association (PSA) since 2002, Shawn has built dogs up to PSA 3 level, been a National Select Decoy multiple times, and served as a PSA judge since 2014. Inducted into the PSA Hall of Fame, he also developed a highly successful course for training effective decoys, solidifying his reputation as a top expert in the field.
Mykala Mantz
Mykala’s passion for dog training began in 2014 as a puppy raiser for Seeing Eye dogs, where she discovered her natural talent and love for teaching dogs. She earned certification from Tarheel Canine Training in 2018, mastering obedience, behavior modification, detection, tracking, and patrol work. Since joining Stateline Canine, Mykala has worked closely with hundreds of dogs and their families, helping them build strong, lasting relationships through expert training and compassionate support. Her dedication and personalized approach make her a trusted trainer for dogs of all needs.
